As alternative energy projects around the country have hit the skids due to funding or environmental problems, Solar Power Partners has kept chugging along. The Mill Valley, Calif. company is one of the country's largest independent solar power producers with more than 40 projects completed totaling 14 megawatts of generating power. That's enough energy to power nearly 11,000 homes. According to alternative energy research company AltaTerra Research, Solar Power Partners is now the third largest independent solar energy producer in the country.
