Indexes Tumble In Heavy Volume; Leaders Mixed
The major indexes sold off Tuesday as volume rose, putting further pressure on the market. The NYSE composite fell 1.4%, the Dow and the S&P 500 1% each, and the Nasdaq 0.8%. McDonald's (MCD) gapped down, although it seemed to find support at its 50-day moving average. The burger giant fell 1.32 to 60.61 on news that its same-store sales rose 0.7%, but fell 0.6% in the U.S. Casey's General Stores (CASY)lost 0.92 to 30.18, continuing to trade below
