Bernanke's Dovish Remarks Can't Boost The Market
Stocks closed mostly lower Monday after the bell rang on a low-volume session. The NYSE composite fell 0.4%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq each fell 0.2%. The Dow, buoyed by Boeing and Verizon, eked out a fractional gain. The session's highlight was a slate of remarks from Fed chief Ben Bernanke.
