Stocks Give Up Gains, Close Lower In Mixed Volume
The dollar and commodities seized center stage Monday as stocks sold off. The NYSE composite tumbled 1.5%, the S&P 500 1.2% and the Dow 1%. The Nasdaq skimmed a 0.6% loss, as Amazon.com's (AMZN) and Microsoft's (MSFT) gains cushioned the index somewhat. The IBD 100 dropped in line with the general market, paring 1.2%.
